Le Meridien Vilnius

Le Meridien Hotel Vilnius

We have read so many reviews of this hotel and they have been mixed. Many people love Le Meridien. But some complain about the location, some complain about the service, some complain about the prices and some complain about the fact that the hotel is so empty. We decided to test the hotel ourselves and spent a day and night at Le Meridien Vilnius in April 2010.

After our stay there, we can understand some of the confusion concerning this hotel. If you want to be a tourist in Vilnius, this is not the spot for you. If you want to relax, pamper yourself and be spoiled, there is no better place to go. If you are in Vilnius on business and want a quiet place to unwind Le Meridien is perfect. For these purposes Le Meridien is perhaps the best spot in the area of Vilnius. At Le Meridien Vilnius you get alot of value for your money.

Le Meridien Hotel is located just outside of the Vilnius city limits. A taxi ride from the old town cost us Lta 40 each way (call the taxi to get that rate, it will be more expensive if you flag one down). You can also pick up a free shuttle to the Le Meridien which departs on schedule 4-5 times everyday from the Revel Hotel near the White Bridge.

Le Meridien hotel is built between two serene lakes. The views to the lakes from the restaurant, spa and some of the rooms are outstanding. The superior rooms and executive rooms have views of the lakes while the classic rooms look to the highway.

If you are an SPG / Preferred guest member (sign up from the website for free) you will get a recently refurnished room. Otherwise, you may get an older room.

We are SPG card holders and we reserved a superior room. It was a bit more expensive, but it was worth it. Our room was well equipped, recently remodeled and had a beautiful view of the smaller lake. We were also located in the same wing as the spa, which made the location very convenient.

The service at the Le Meridien? Couldn't be better. The staff exceeded all of our expectations. Special requests (due to our baby we made several) were always fulfilled with a smile.

The restaurant was excellent. A little expensive by Lithuanian standards and the portions were smaller than we would have liked. But our dinner was well prepared. We enjoyed a rolled pork with potato croquet (40 lta /14 euro) and a baked cod (75 lta / 21 eur). Everything was excellent, from the quality of food to the level of service to the lovely atmosphere. The breakfast one of the best we had in years. Much of it freshly prepared to order such as crepes stuffed with fresh bananas or apples, eggs cooked as you like them, fried bacon or sausages. In addition there were plenty of fresh fruits, croissants, fresh breads, rolls and juices. Plus there were special treats you rarely get such as Eggs Benedict and fresh fruit smoothies, french press coffee brought to your table.

The spa area was well taken care of and relaxing. I fell asleep in one of the saunas, which could have been quite dangerous as there were very few people around. But the place as so relaxing and taken care of it was difficult to resist.

We did not see alot of other guests at the hotel, which made our time more relaxing. The staff at the restaurant, reception and spa had plenty of time for us and the hotel was very calm and quiet. The only noise came and left with us, our little baby.

The hotel is wheelchair accessible, with a ramp at the entrance. There is a wheelchair accessible public toilet reachable by elevator from the lobby. The hotel has two wheelchair accessible guest rooms.

The hotel was very baby friendly. From a nice baby pool in the spa area, to the cozy baby crib in our room. The staff even prepared two types of porridge for our baby at breakfast at no charge. There is a children's club room, with toys and play things for children.

There is free Internet in the business center and wifi in the guest rooms at an extra charge.

We can understand that if you have plans to see the lovely old town and are booked into the Le Meridien you will be disappointed. Le Meridien is not convenient for sight seeing purposes. But we had no complaints about the Le Meridien at all. Everything was excellent and top quality. The next time we are stressed out and want to be pampered, we will return to the Le Meridien.
